Rashad Hardaway, MD, FAPA

Dr. Hardaway, or "Dr. Rashad", and his company, PersonFirst Health, is based in the San Francisco/Bay Area of California. He is a Harvard-trained adult psychiatrist, with further training in child/adolescent psychiatry at the University of Washington Medical School. Dr. Hardaway is board certified to treat both children and adults.

His career experience has taken place at top-ranked medical centers including Brigham and Women's Hospital and Seattle Children's Hospital, where he was chief of the child psychiatry fellowship and established clinical expertise working with persons with Autism and developmental disabilities. He has provided care as an inpatient psychiatrist on the college mental health unit at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Zucker Hillside Hospital in New York City. Dr. Hardaway has a background in medical psychiatry as well, treating patients with complex medical care and serving as a consultant psychiatrist for medical units & emergency departments within an award winning hospital group in Northern California.

Dr. Hardaway's practice integrates different types of therapy in a comprehensive, holistic manner that shifts healthcare's focus from the client's diagnosis to something more meaningful- the client's resiliency. While his general practice is evidence-based, at the same time he recognizes the limitations of current psychiatric interventions. To this end, he holds an openness and fondness for complementary, spiritual, mindfulness-based, and alternative treatments which influence the foundation of his practice philosophy.

Dr. Hardaway has received the honor of being designated a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He has publications on LGBTQ adolescents of color, cultural issues in medicine, and technology use in mental health treatment.
